The future of logistics on the axis Hamburg-Lübeck-Øresund
The cross border logistics conference held by FehmarnBelt Business Council (FBBC) and Femern Belt Logistics presented a line of scenarios about the future of logistics on the axis Hamburg-Lübeck-Øresund.
Last Tuesday representatives from the North European logistic centers gave their view on the future logistic scenarios on the axis Hamburg-Lübeck-Øresund as a consequence of the Fehmarn Belt fixed link. The conference, held at the Chamber of Commerce in Hamburg, was with nearly 100 participants from Denmark, Germany and Sweden considered a success. "I think it's impressive that so many people participate to discuss the logistic perspective this early in the process," said Ajs Dam, Director of Communications at Femern A/S.
With speakers from Hamburg, Lübeck, Copenhagen and Malmö, the participants were presented with the expectations on how the Fehmarn link is to affect the logistics industry, including the expectations of future freight flows. The logistic perspectives were discussed during lunch and several participants took the opportunity to emphasize the need to increase the focus on the German hinterland connection involving road, rail and existing bottlenecks. The improvement of the motorway "A1" was cited as a concrete example which needs to be addressed.
The conference was moderated by Brigitte Langenhagen, board member of the Baltic Sea Forum.
